Scotland Yard is the popular name for the headquarters of London's Metropolitan Police. The name originates with the 1875 headquarters, with its public entrance being off Great Scotland Yard. In 1890 the headquarters was moved to "New Scotland Yard" on the shore of the Thames, where it remained through the time of the Goons. The present Scotland Yard (also officially "New Scotland Yard") near St. James's Park Station has been used since 1967.
